Twin Gear Resale Guide: What Holds Value and Where to Sell
Some twin gear holds 60% of its value after a year. Some is worth nothing. Here is what to sell, where to sell it, and how to price twin gear for a fast sale.
Twin gear is expensive to buy and surprisingly valuable to sell. A double stroller that cost $600 new can sell for $250 to $350 after a year of use. A twin nursing pillow that cost $80 sells for $30 to $40 used. But not everything is worth the effort. Some items are worth $0 on the resale market no matter what you paid. Here is the guide to what holds value, what does not, and where to get the best return.
What holds value
Double strollers: 40 to 60% resale value
Double strollers are the highest-value resale item in twin gear. Demand is constant (new twin parents are always entering the market), supply is limited (these are specialty items), and the brands hold up well physically.
- UPPAbaby Vista (with second seat): $300 to $500 used, depending on condition and accessories.
- Bugaboo Donkey: $350 to $600 used. The premium brands retain the most value.
- Mockingbird Single-to-Double: $150 to $250 used.
- BabyJogger City Mini GT2 Double: $150 to $250 used.
Tip: include all accessories (rain cover, snack tray, cup holders, adapters). Incomplete strollers sell for 20 to 30% less.
Twin nursing pillows: 30 to 50% resale value
Twin Z and My Brest Friend Twins both resell well because they are hard to find used and new twin parents specifically seek them out. Clean the cover before selling.
High chairs (quality brands): 30 to 50% resale value
Stokke Tripp Trapp and IKEA Antilop are the two extremes. The Stokke holds value well ($100 to $150 used for a $280 chair). The IKEA Antilop is so cheap new ($20) that there is no resale market. Mid-range chairs (Inglesina, OXO Tot) sell for 30 to 40% of retail.
Baby monitors: 20 to 40% resale value
Nanit and Owlet hold value best because of brand recognition. Off-brand monitors are harder to sell. Wifi monitors sell better than non-wifi because buyers want current technology.
What does not hold value
- Car seats. Safety concerns and expiration dates mean used car seats have very limited resale value. Most buyers will not purchase a used car seat from a stranger, and many resale platforms prohibit them. Donate or recycle instead.
- Crib mattresses. Same logic as car seats. Used mattresses carry a safety stigma. Do not try to sell them.
- Basic bouncers and swings. Fisher-Price and Ingenuity items under $50 new have essentially no resale value. Give them away.
- Clothing in bulk. Twin clothing bundles sell, but the per-item return is pennies. Price by the bag, not the piece.
- Bottles and feeding accessories. Hygiene concerns mean most buyers will not purchase used bottles. Donate or recycle.
Where to sell twin gear
Best return: local multiples club consignment sales
The buyers at these sales are specifically looking for twin gear. Prices are fair, turnover is fast, and you do not have to deal with shipping. Most clubs take a 15 to 25% commission. This is the best channel for double strollers and twin-specific items.
Fastest sale: Facebook Marketplace
List with clear photos, honest condition notes, and a fair price. Twin gear sells fast on Marketplace because the buyer pool is local parents who need the item now. Price at 40 to 50% of retail for a same-week sale.
Widest audience: eBay (for shippable items)
Good for smaller items (monitors, nursing pillows, carriers) that ship easily. Not practical for strollers unless you are willing to deal with oversized shipping.
Easiest: Buy Nothing groups
No money, no hassle. Post the item, someone picks it up. You get nothing financially but you clear the space and help another family. For items with low resale value (bouncers, swings, clothing bundles), this is the right move.
Pricing strategy for a fast sale
- Research completed listings (not active listings) on Facebook Marketplace and eBay to see what items actually sold for, not what people are asking.
- Price at 40 to 50% of current retail for a fast sale. 50 to 60% if the item is in excellent condition and you can wait.
- Bundle related items. "Double stroller plus rain cover plus cup holders, $300" sells faster than listing each piece separately.
- Photograph in good light, clean the item first, and note any defects honestly. Trust sells used baby gear.
When to sell
Sell while the item is still in your twins' current or recent size range. A 6-month-old's bouncer is worth more than a 2-year-old's bouncer that has been in the garage for 18 months. The best time to sell twin gear is 1 to 3 months after your twins have outgrown it.
And remember: every dollar you recoup from selling twin gear is a dollar that funds the next stage. The gear cycle is a loop, not a line.
