Infant Car Seats for twins
Two babies, two infant car seats, no way around it. The hospital will not discharge twins without both seats installed and inspected, so this is the one purchase you finish before week 36, not after. The good news: you need two of the same seat, not two expensive seats. Identical models mean one install manual, one set of muscle memory at 3am, and bases that swap between cars without a re-learning curve.
What matters for twins is the width of the base (two seats have to share a back row), the weight of the carrier (you will be hauling both), and how hard it is to install correctly on the fifth try. Buy new unless you have total provenance on a used seat. An accident history you cannot verify makes a used seat worthless, however clean it looks.
Safety note: Never use a used car seat without verified accident-free history. Check expiration date — most expire 6–10 years from manufacture.
