From the desk
The SlimFit is the convertible we point to when twin parents drive a small sedan. At about 16.7 inches wide, two SlimFits fit across a Honda Civic, a Toyota Corolla, or a VW Golf with a little room left for an adult between them. That's a rare combination at this price point.
It's not the lightest seat (about 14 lbs), and the harness slot adjustment isn't as smooth as the premium options. But the safety record is solid, the install is straightforward, and the price (around $200) is hundreds less than the premium narrow seats (Clek Fllo, Cybex Sirona).
For twins who'll outgrow the infant seat around month nine to twelve, two SlimFits will get you to about age four before you need to think about the next stage. That's three-and-a-half years of use for a $400 outlay across both kids. Hard to argue with.
Why we say buy two
Two SlimFits. The whole point of recommending this seat is that it fits in pairs across narrow back rows. You need two; one is not the answer.
