Twin Z Pillow vs My Brest Friend Twins Plus: Which Twin Feeding Pillow
The Twin Z is a soft Z that props two babies for bottles, tandem nursing, and lounging. The My Brest Friend Twins Plus is a firm strapped-on platform built for tandem breastfeeding.
Two different tools. The Twin Z Pillow, around $80, is a soft wraparound Z that props two babies for bottle feeds, tandem nursing, and lounging, and it works on a couch, a bed, or the floor. The My Brest Friend Twins Plus, around $120, is a firm, flat, strapped-on platform built for one job: tandem breastfeeding two newborns with a good latch. If you will bottle-feed or combo-feed, buy the Twin Z. If you are committed to tandem breastfeeding, buy the My Brest Friend and accept that it is enormous. Buy either one new. These are not used-market items.
Where they differ for twins#
- Shape and firmness: the Twin Z is soft foam in a Z shape that sits around you loosely. The My Brest Friend is dense flat foam that wraps around your waist and clips shut. Soft is comfortable; firm is precise.
- Attachment: the My Brest Friend straps on, so the platform stays put when a baby wriggles. The Twin Z has no strap; you hold it with your body, and two heavier babies drift toward the middle as the feed goes on.
- Latch support: the flat firm surface of the My Brest Friend keeps two newborns at breast height with their bodies level, which is what a tandem latch needs. On the Twin Z babies sink a little, and by month three you are re-propping.
- Bottle feeding: the Twin Z wins clearly. Two babies propped, one hand per bottle, half-asleep on the bed. The My Brest Friend can do it, but it is a lot of pillow for the job.
- Where you can use it: the Twin Z works on a bed, a couch, or the floor. The My Brest Friend wants you upright in a chair with room on both sides. Measure your chair.
- Back support: both have a back rest. The My Brest Friend's is firmer and does more for a sore back over a forty-minute tandem feed. The Twin Z's is padded and comfortable but softens after a few months of use.
- C-section recovery: the My Brest Friend's strap sits at the waist, which some parents find uncomfortable in the first weeks. The Twin Z rests on your lap and asks nothing of the incision.
- Cleaning: both have removable, machine-washable covers. With two babies spitting up on one pillow you will wash the cover twice a week, so a spare cover is worth it whichever you buy.
- Price and resale: $80 for the Twin Z, around $110 for the organic-cover version, around $120 for the My Brest Friend Twins Plus. Our used verdict for all of them is buy new; the foam compresses and these get spat on a lot.
- Life after feeding: the Twin Z keeps working as a lounger, a tummy-time prop, and a sitting-practice cushion. The My Brest Friend is done the day nursing ends.
Who the Twin Z suits#
Most twin families, honestly. Bottle feeders, combo feeders, night-shift partners feeding two babies while the other parent sleeps, and anyone who feeds on a bed rather than in a chair. It is the pillow that survives past the feeding stage, which makes the $80 easy to justify. It also suits parents who are not sure of their feeding plan yet, which at week 36 of a twin pregnancy is most of you. And it is the easier pillow to hand to a grandparent for a feed, since there is no strap to fit and nothing to adjust.
Its limit is precision. If tandem breastfeeding is the goal and the twins are small, the Twin Z's softness works against a good latch, and you will spend the feed adjusting.
Who the My Brest Friend Twins Plus suits#
Twin parents committed to tandem breastfeeding, especially with small or early twins where latch height and body position are the difference between a feed that works and two screaming babies. The firm platform, the strap, and the back rest all serve that one job, and for that job it is the better tool. It also suits anyone whose lactation consultant recommended a firm surface for positioning.
It does not suit small chairs, small living rooms, or feeding in bed. It is roughly the width of a small coffee table when it is on you, and it does not fold or travel. If you need a portable twin pillow, the inflatable San Diego Bebe Twin is the compromise.
The dealbreakers#
- Bottle-only feeding: the My Brest Friend is the wrong purchase. Save the $40 and buy the Twin Z.
- Tandem breastfeeding small or preemie twins: the Twin Z is too soft to hold the latch. Buy the My Brest Friend.
- Feeding on the bed at night: the Twin Z. The My Brest Friend needs an upright sitter.
- A narrow armchair or a tiny couch: the My Brest Friend may not physically fit with you in the chair.
- A single Boppy pressed into twin service: skip it. Fine singleton pillow, poor twin one.
- Two twin pillows: you do not need two. If a partner feeds the second baby, an arm and a regular pillow are enough.
What we'd do#
Buy the Twin Z before the babies arrive, because it covers every feeding plan well enough and keeps earning its place as a lounger until the twins can sit. If tandem breastfeeding turns out to be the plan and the Twin Z is not holding the latch, add the My Brest Friend Twins Plus in week two. That order costs $200 in the worst case and $80 in the common one. Skip the single Boppy for twin duty, and skip buying either pillow used.

FAQ
- Which twin feeding pillow is better for bottle feeding?
- The Twin Z. Its soft Z shape props two babies on a bed, a couch, or the floor with one hand free per bottle, and it works half-asleep at 3am. The My Brest Friend Twins Plus can bottle feed too, but it is a firm strapped-on platform built for tandem breastfeeding, and it is a lot of pillow for a bottle.
- Which twin pillow is better for tandem breastfeeding?
- The My Brest Friend Twins Plus, especially with small or early twins. Its flat firm surface and waist strap keep both babies at breast height with their bodies level, which is what a tandem latch needs. The Twin Z is softer, so babies sink and drift toward the middle as the feed goes on and you spend time re-propping.
- Do I need two nursing pillows for twins?
- No. One tandem pillow is the whole point of a twin pillow: both babies on it at once, one parent underneath. If a partner takes one baby for a feed, an arm and any ordinary pillow are enough. Buy one Twin Z or one My Brest Friend Twins Plus, not two of either, and skip the single Boppy for twin duty.
- Can I buy a twin nursing pillow used?
- We would not. The foam in both the Twin Z and the My Brest Friend compresses with use, the covers see a lot of milk, and a used pillow that has lost its shape does the one job worse. At $80 to $120 new, buy new. If you want to save money, buy the Twin Z first and add the My Brest Friend only if tandem nursing needs it.
