From the desk

The Hudson is the mid-tier crib most often picked when twin parents want something nicer than the IKEA Sundvik. Mid-century legs, GREENGUARD Gold-certified for low VOC emissions, and four mattress positions. About $400 each.

The quality difference vs. the Sundvik is real but small. The Hudson feels heavier, the finish is smoother, and the slats are spaced more uniformly. Twin parents who care about how the nursery photographs lean Hudson. Twin parents who'll convert the room to a guest room when the kids move out lean Sundvik.

It converts to a daybed and a toddler bed; the conversion kits are sold separately.

Why we say buy two

Two Hudsons. Same logic as any twin crib question: one baby per sleep surface, no exceptions.

The decision behind this pick

Do I need two cribs for twins?

Yes. Once they outgrow bassinets, each baby needs their own crib for safe sleep.

Why

Safe sleep guidelines (AAP, NHS) call for one baby per sleep surface. Twins should each have their own crib once out of bassinets.

When to buy

By 4–6 months, when babies outgrow bassinets.
